What is torque rating and BHP/Horse power of cars ?

Simply put, torque is the twisting force that an engine can produce, which is given in ‘N-m’ (Newton – meter) generally. Higher the torque rating, more powerful the engine is. Horse power can be said to be ability of engine to do work over a period of time. It can be said higher the HP, faster and the car. Basically both these factors are related to the power rating of a car.
