As the wording suggests, periodic maintenance are those maintenance activites which are carried out as per a schedule after certain period of time. These are the activities carried out so as to have extended good quality performance of the vehicle. Eg. Oil replacement, lubrication, chain setting, tire pressure checking, battery charging, etc. Breakdown maintenance are those maintenance activities which are carried out in case of breakdown of the vehicle or a particular part.
