Tata Motors has unveiled an upgraded version of its popular Nexon EV, now featuring a more substantial 45kWh battery pack. This enhancement allows the Nexon EV 45 to deliver an improved driving range compared to its predecessor, which will still be available for purchase alongside the new model. Notably, the Nexon EV 45 comes equipped with a host of exclusive features that set it apart, making it an exciting addition to Tata’s electric vehicle lineup. This article highlights the key changes and specifications of the 2024 Tata Nexon EV 45.

Pricing and Variants

The Nexon EV 45 is available in two variants, starting with the entry-level Creative variant priced at ₹13.99 lakh. The higher-spec Fearless variant is offered at ₹14.99 lakh. Compared to the Nexon EV Empowered Plus LR with a 40.5kWh battery, the top-tier Nexon EV 45 commands a premium of ₹70,000. This extra cost justifies the larger battery and additional features included in this new model.

Driving Range

The new Nexon EV 45 boasts an impressive range of 489 km on the modified ARAI test cycle. However, Tata Motors estimates that the real-world driving range will be around 350-370 km, making it a practical choice for daily commutes and longer journeys alike.

Exclusive Features

The Empowered Plus trim of the Nexon EV 45 adds several premium features, including a panoramic sunroof and a 12-liter ‘frunk,’ which enhances its appeal and functionality. These additions make the Nexon EV 45 a more versatile vehicle for electric car enthusiasts.

Battery Technology

Tata Motors has incorporated the same lithium iron phosphate (LFP) prismatic cells used in the newly launched Curvv EV, enabling greater volumetric and energy density. Consequently, the Nexon EV 45 supports a rapid charge rate of 1.2C, similar to the Curvv EV. When connected to a 60kW DC fast charger, the vehicle can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

Motor and Performance

The Nexon EV 45 is equipped with a permanent magnet motor similar to that of the standard Nexon EV, but it delivers a slightly increased peak power of 147.5bhp. The new model is approximately 50 kg heavier than the standard Nexon EV, attributed to the added weight of the larger battery pack and new features. The standard Nexon EV uses a 40.5kWh battery, while the Nexon EV 45 is equipped with the upgraded 45kWh variant.

Conclusion

With the introduction of the Nexon EV 45, Tata Motors demonstrates its commitment to enhancing electric mobility in India. This new model combines an extended driving range, advanced features, and innovative battery technology, making it a compelling choice for consumers seeking a sustainable and modern vehicle. The Nexon EV 45 not only meets the demands of the growing electric vehicle market but also sets a benchmark for future models in this segment.
