Introduction
Tata Motors has recently introduced the Curvv coupe SUV to the Indian market, a model that will be available with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. Here’s a detailed look at what to expect from the electric variant set to be launched in the coming days.
Exterior
The Tata Curvv maintains the design language seen in the concept model showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Staying true to its original concept, the Curvv also incorporates elements from the version displayed at the Bharat Mobility Expo, marking its distinction as India’s first coupe SUV. It features a striking front end with an LED lightbar, a prominent shoulder line, flared wheel arches, and flush-fitting door handles. Its unique selling point is the sloping roofline that seamlessly transitions into a short tail section, adorned with a 3D LED light bar.
Interior
Tata Motors has promised a modern and minimalist interior for the Curvv. The images reveal a host of advanced features, including a four-spoke steering wheel similar to those in the Harrier and Safari models. The cabin is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a faux carbon-fiber finish on the dashboard. Additional highlights include connected car technology, red ambient lighting, numerous active and passive safety features, and a panoramic sunroof. Recent teasers also show A-pillar-mounted tweeters, an auto-dimming IRVM, touch controls for the AC, an engine start-stop button, and an illuminated logo on the steering wheel.
Powertrain
The electric version of the Tata Curvv will be offered with two battery pack options. The top-tier model will feature a 55kWh battery paired with a single electric motor, delivering a driving range of up to 600km on a full charge. Additionally, the DC fast-charging capability allows the vehicle to gain 100km of range in just 10 minutes. While Tata Motors has yet to announce details about the lower-spec versions, it is speculated that they may use the 40.5kWh battery unit from the Nexon EV.
Launch, Expected Price, and Competition
The 2024 Tata Curvv EV is anticipated to be priced between Rs. 18 lakh to Rs. 24 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with other electric vehicles in the market, such as the BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, Mahindra XUV400, and upcoming models like the Hyundai Creta EV and Honda Elevate EV.
With its blend of innovative design, advanced features, and promising performance, the Tata Curvv EV is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle segment in India.
