Tata Motors has finally entered the premium hatchback segment with the launch of Altroz in India at an introductory price of Rs. 5.29 lakhs (ex-showroom, pan-India).

The Altroz will be available in five trim options, XE, XM, XT, XZ, and XZ Option across all Tata Motors authorized dealerships at an introductory price of Rs. 5.29 lakhs and Rs. 6.99 lakhs for both petrol and diesel versions respectively. The customers can also choose between 6 different factory-fitted customizable options.

The Altroz is the first vehicle to be developed on the ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) architecture and the second vehicle featuring the Impact 2.0 design (first one being the Tata Harrier). Along with that, the Altroz is India’s safest car in its category as it recently scored GNCAP 5-star safety rating and it is also an industry first, fully BS-VI ready diesel hatchback.

The Altroz gets both BS-VI ready petrol and diesel engines. The petrol one is a 1.2L Revotron, 3-cylinder, naturally aspirated engine that churns out 84.82 BHP @ 6000 rpm and max. torque of 113 Nm @ 3300 rpm, while the diesel one is a 1.5L Turbocharged Revotorq, 4-cylinder engine that produces 88.76 BHP @ 4000 rpm and max. torque of 200 Nm @ 1250-3000 rpm. As of now, both these engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the automatic gearbox option will be offered by the company in the future.

The Altroz features 90° doors that offer more space to the passengers to get in and out of the vehicle. The top-spec Altroz features a 17.78cm (7″) touchscreen Harman infotainment system, Android Autoplay and Apple CarPlay, voice command recognition, Turn-by-Turn feature, 7″ digital instrument cluster, start/stop push-button, automatic projector headlights with LED DRLs, cruise control, automatic climate control, automatic wipers, ambient lighting, a cooled glovebox and a rear parking camera.

On the safety front, it gets the 5-star Global NCAP safety rating while Dual Airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) & CSC (Corner Stability Control), Isofix, and rear parking sensors are offered as standard on all its variants.

The deliveries of the Altroz will begin from mid-February and it will go against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz in its segment.
