Land Rover Range Rover has unveiled the world’s first full-size luxury SUV coupe, the Range Rover SV Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show 2018. It is a limited-edition two-door Range Rover of which only 999 units will be made (hand-assembled) at the SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire. The SV Coupe has been built to celebrate the brand’s 70th anniversary.
The SV Coupe is created by Land Rover Design and Special Vehicle Operations, and is based on the same platform of the regular Range Rover but gets a new aluminium bodywork and according to the company, the SV Coupe shares only the bonnet and the lower tailgate with the Range Rover.
Along with new aluminium exterior panels, there are new front and rear bumpers, frameless doors, panoramic sunroof and new contrasting upholstery. There are eight gloss or satin effect exterior shades available for this car, out of which four are offered for the first time on Range Rover: Constellation, Parallax, Liquesence and Obsidian; and four from the SV Premium Palette: Ethereal, Flux, Valloire and Desire. The Liquesence option brings the liquid metal finish to Range Rover for the first time. This is also the first Range Rover to get a 23-inch wheel option. The Special Vehicle Operations’ personalisation team offers individual customization and access to over 100 paint colours along with other options (exterior and interior).
The headlights are Pixel-laser LED headlights with 144 LEDs and four laser diodes which provide five times higher luminance than standard LED lights on Laser Supplementary High Beam (over 500m, operational above 80kph when no other lights are detected).
The Range Rover SV Coupé features Range Rover’s most powerful 5L Supercharged, V8, petrol powertrain, that produces 565 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with rotary drive selector and paddle-shift. The 0-100 km/h sprint comes in 5.3 seconds and it does a top speed of 266 km/h. The vehicle also gets a permanent four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer box and Active Locking Rear Differential, assisted by Terrain Response 2 featuring Dynamic, Eco, Comfort, Grass Gravel Snow, Mud and Ruts, Sand and Rock Crawl programmes.
Range Rover SV Coupé is a car with fewer doors and more luxury and its sales are expected to start from the fourth quarter of 2018, priced from £240,000 (Rs. 1,93,53,869) in the UK.
