The second part of the forthcoming SUVs roundup shifts its focus from vehicles under Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom) to the higher end of the price spectrum. This segment encompasses three-row SUVs and an electric SUV.
MG Motor India is in the process of testing the facelifted Gloster, evident from its frequent sightings on Indian roads. Expected to debut towards the year’s end, this flagship SUV will boast updated exterior design elements and new interior features. The facelifted Gloster will retain its current 2.0-liter diesel engine, available in turbo and twin-turbo variants, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Skoda recently unveiled the second-generation Kodiaq, scheduled to arrive in India in Q4 CY24. The new Kodiaq features a redesigned exterior, including a new grille, sleek D-pillar, updated alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, C-shaped LED tail lamps, and a rear LED light bar. Inside, the three-row SUV takes design cues from the new-gen Superb, showcasing a dual-tone brown and black theme, a two-spoke steering wheel, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a fully digital instrument cluster. While the global Kodiaq offers a plug-in hybrid powertrain option, the Indian variant is expected to maintain its existing powertrain configurations, with minor dimension adjustments.
Jeep is preparing to unveil the updated Meridian, based on the Compass platform. Spy shots of the Meridian facelift reveal enhancements such as an ADAS suite, subtle grille revisions, redesigned headlamps and DRLs, and updated front and rear bumpers. Interior updates remain undisclosed, but anticipated revisions include a new 12.3-inch screen, rear window blinds, and an updated UI for the touchscreen unit. Mechanically, the facelifted Meridian will likely remain unchanged from its predecessor.
