BMW has officially opened bookings for the new-generation 5 Series in India ahead of its launch on 24 July. This marks the debut of the 5 Series in the long-wheelbase (LWB) variant in the Indian market.

The eighth-generation 5 Series is currently available for booking in a single variant, the 530Li M Sport LWB. Customers can choose between two exterior paint options: M Carbon Black Metallic and Sparkling Copper Grey Metallic. Additionally, there are options for 18-inch mono-tone and 19-inch dual-tone wheels, along with Titanium Bronze and Aluminium Satinated finishes.

Design highlights of the 2024 BMW 5 Series LWB include a larger signature kidney grille, curved LED DRLs integrated into the LED headlamps, black inserts on both sides of the bumper, ‘M’ badging on the front fender, flush-fitting door handles, ‘5’ badging on the C-pillar, and sleek wraparound LED taillights.

Inside, this rival to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB features a curved dual-screen layout on the dashboard, which houses a 14.9-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch driver’s display. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, reclining rear seats, a Level 2 ADAS suite, USB Type-C charging ports, and electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats.

Under the hood, the new-gen 5 Series is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine might follow soon after. Additionally, a mild-hybrid system could also be offered.
