The all-new Land Rover Defender, the most awaited 4×4 of the year has finally made its way to India. It is launched at Rs. 73.98 lakhs for the Defender 90 and Rs. 79.94 lakhs for the Defender 110, both-prices are ex-showroom, India.
The new Defender is available in five variants – Standard, S, SE, HSE and First Edition. Also, there will be four accessory packs on offer – Explorer, Adventure, Country, and Urban.
Design-wise, the new Defender looks tough, purposeful even with those short overhangs. With its high ground clearance, it seems off-road ready.
In the top-variants, the new Defender features a 10″ Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3″ digital instrument cluster, HUD, 12-way electrically adjustable and heated front seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging, Meridian surround sound system with 14 speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer, a 360-degree surround camera, LED headlights and Adaptive Dynamics with Electronic Air Suspension which comes as standard fitment on the 110.
The Defender 90 and the Defender 110 are powered by the same 2L, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol, Ingenium engine. It produces 296 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The Defender 90 does the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8 seconds, and the Defender 110 does it in an additional 0.1 seconds. Both the new Defenders get a permanent 4WD system, and along with that a twin-speed transfer box, electronically active differential (optional), configurable Terrain Response and Terrain Response 2, Hill Descent Control, All-Terrain Progress Control are also featured in them.
The deliveries of the new Defender 110 will commence immediately while the Defender 90’s deliveries will begin from Q1 of FY 2021.
