Lamborghini launched its new Fighting Bull – the Huracán in India today at Rs. 3.43 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The Huracán is Lighter, Leaner, and Stronger than its famed Predecessor – the Gallardo. In keeping with Lamborghini tradition, the new Huracán is named after a courageous fighting bull – in this case a famous example from the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed. The latest product of Sant’Agata definitely has all the prerequisites to take over from the Gallardo, the most successful Lamborghini model of all time, while taking on its close rival from Maranello. The new 610HP ‘baby’ Lamborghini moves the game on significantly.
“Today we are very proud to officially launch the new Lamborghini Huracán LP 610 – 4 here in India. Automobili Lamborghini continues to set new bench marks in the luxury Supersports car industry with its pure and cutting edge technology and we expect the Huracán to be well received in this country”, said Mr. Sebastien Henry.
“The Huracán is aligned to become a legend in the future. Since its global launch at the Geneva Motor Show, the customer response has been very positive, they are delighted with a new design philosophy. Deliveries of these units are scheduled to begin in October 2014”, said Mr. Pavan Shetty, Head – Operations, Lamborghini India.
Overview:
When compared with its predecessor, the Huracán is Low, clean, sharp-edged design combined with all-wheel drive and a V10 engine is a familiar – and winning – formula. But the devil is in the detail. The new Huracán is both lighter and more powerful than the equivalent Gallardo and features a new 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The design is simple and pure, with one continuous line taking the eye from the base of the windscreen right through to the tail. Overall, the look is cleaner, sharper and chunkier. The signature hexagon appears in various design details, including air intakes. Inside, the cockpit is dominated by a full-colour 12.3-inch TFT instrument panel for all car information, from satellite navigation to revolutions per minute.. Fine Nappa leather and Alcantara™ ensure that the interior of the new Huracán is a very good place to spend a long drive. As with every Lamborghini since the company became part of the Volkswagen Group, the combination of Italian flair and Germanic precision has created a supercar with everyday usability.
Technology:
Huracán makes extensive use of lightweight materials, including aluminium and carbon fibre, to achieve a reduction in dry kerb weight to 1,422 kg, around 30kg less than the equivalent Gallardo. At the same time it’s significantly stiffer, which aids both purity of feedback and refinement. The new 5.2 litre V10 engine delivers a maximum power of 448 kW / 610 HP at 8,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 560 Nm at 6,500 rpm and drives through an all-new 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox to all four wheels. A combination of both direct and indirect injection as well as stop/start technology delivers more performance from less fuel, along with CO2 emissions of 290 g/km. The Huracán blasts from 0-100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds, with a top speed of 325 kmph. The driver can also select between Strada, Sport and Corsa settings via a ‘driving dynamics selector switch’ on the steering wheel (just don’t call it a mannetino). The ‘Lamborghini Dynamic Steering’ variable steering ratio system and magneto-rheologic suspension damper control are both available as options.
