Maruti Suzuki has begun exporting the India-made Fronx back to its home country, Japan. Manufactured at the Gujarat plant, this shipment marks the first batch sent for sale in Japan, where the car will launch at the end of August. While the exterior and interior designs remain consistent with the Indian version, the Japanese Fronx is equipped with a 1.5-litre petrol engine, similar to what’s found in the Ertiga and Brezza, producing 103bhp/138Nm.
The Japanese model is available with a six-speed automatic transmission and offers both FWD and AWD options. India has been a key production hub for the Fronx, which is exported globally to markets including Gulf nations and South Africa. Following the export of the Baleno to Japan in 2016, the Fronx naturally follows suit, continuing Suzuki’s strategy of utilizing India’s manufacturing capabilities for its global markets.
