Hero MotoCorp has been diligently working on the development of the Xoom 160 for quite some time. Following its recent debut at the Bharat Mobility Expo, there are strong indications that the ADV scooter will hit the market in just a few weeks.

For Hero MotoCorp, the Xoom 160 represents a significant entry into the premium scooter segment in India. With the dominant presence of the Yamaha Aerox in the sub-200cc category, equipped with a liquid-cooled engine, Hero aims to compete head-on with the Japanese giant by introducing the Xoom 160. The scooter appears promising on paper, signaling a potential market shake-up.

Notably, the Xoom 160 boasts an adventure-inspired design, evident in its front apron housing split LED headlights and a tall windscreen. Its side profile resembles that of a typical maxi-scooter, characterized by long body panels, a central spine, and a sleek tail section. While the aesthetics are appealing, final judgments on quality, fit, and finish will be reserved until we get hands-on experience with the production-spec scooter.

In terms of performance, the Xoom 160 is anticipated to feature a 156cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering 14bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.7Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. Although these specifications are based on the pre-production model, minimal deviations are expected in the figures of the final production version.

With an expected ex-showroom price of approximately Rs. 1.3 lakh, the Hero Xoom will directly rival competitors like the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160 upon its launch.
