Bajaj is set to embark on an eventful financial year for its Chetak EV brand, with plans to launch its most budget-friendly variant in the coming days. However, what truly captures attention is the company’s agenda to upgrade the Chetak EV early next year.

As per insights from Rakesh Sharma, a key figure within the company, Chetak performed admirably in the past fiscal year, instilling confidence for further growth in the current period. To facilitate this growth, an entry-level Chetak variant tailored for the Indian market is in the pipeline. Leaked images of this model suggest significant cost-cutting measures aimed at achieving the lowest possible pricing. It’s anticipated that this variant will garner substantial sales for Bajaj.

On the horizon is an enhanced variant slated for an early 2025 launch, promising a slew of new features along with upgrades in range and performance. Presently, the Chetak is offered in two variants – Premium and Urbane, priced at Rs 1.47 lakh and Rs 1.23 lakh respectively. The primary distinctions between these variants lie in battery capacity and overall riding range. The 2025 iteration is poised to boast a larger battery capacity coupled with additional features.

Currently, the Chetak ranks as the third highest-selling electric scooter brand in the country. With the introduction of the affordable variant, Bajaj stands to ascend to the second position within a matter of months. Notably, the brand’s success is particularly noteworthy, given its stylish design language, which diverges from the conventionally neutral aesthetics preferred by Indian buyers.
