Total Oil India Private Limited (TOIPL) is a part of Total S.A., operating in India since 1993. Total S.A. is a French multinational company. The company was founded on 28 th March, 1924 by Col. Ernest Mercier on behest of then French Prime Minister Raymond Poincaré along with the support of 90 banks.
Today TOIPL is strengthened with over 600 employees. In India, the company has a growing presence in automotive & industrial lubricants, LPG for domestic & commercial appliances, modern bitumen products, special fluids and solar energy. Total is committed towards green.
Indians as researchers and technicians. Most of the recruited engineers are PhD with international working experience. Amongst the technicians, 90% are Master of Science and others are graduate in engineering. Talented recruits are also sent abroad to appropriate Total facilities.
TCAP is certified to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 for quality & environment and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 for Occupational Health & Safety Management systems. The research facility is equipped with traditional and state-of-the-art modern instruments to carry out more than 150 critical tests and precise analysis.
Initially, TCAP was aiming to provide technical assistance in production and scientific support to the subsidiaries and customers in the APAC and Middle East Regions. Now the technical skills and expertise are also working in research and development. Area of activities at TCAP are – Lubricants for automobiles & transmissions, off-road industries, Hydrocarbons solvents and special fluids. The centre evaluates and homologates Group I & II base oils for Total lubricants, globally. For products as motorcycle oils, plasticizers, textile lubricants or Quenching oils, the TCAP is the global competence within the Total R&D organization. This centre is now well recognized worldwide for formulation and development of lubricants that meet the highly specialized industrial demands from the customers. TCAP is focused to provide cost effective solutions to the customer’s in synergy with the main R&D centre in Europe, developing adapted products and provide technical support to industrial and OEM customers for their specific requirement. 
India has growing demand of aftermarket and OEM components in automobile sector, especially motorcycles. TCAP has formulated a new lube oil for motorcycles running on Indian roads. TOIPL is soon to launch the product commercially. We have no further information about the product, its price and launch date. After visiting TCAP facility, we are having high expectation on the performance of this product. We are expecting the announcement by the end of 2017 or may be during the Auto Expo 2018.
