Royal Enfield has launched the new Thunderbird X, a new factory-built, custom look motorcycles. It includes the Thunderbird 350X and Thunderbird 500X and they are launched in India at Rs. 1.57 lakhs and 1.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

Both of them get a blacked out theme and look similar (design-wise) but are differentiated by different shades. The Thunderbird 350X comes in two colours – Roving Red and Whimsical White, while the Thunderbird 500X also comes in two colours – Getaway Orange and Drifter Blue.

Both the X motorcycles feature the same engines as that of the standard models. The Thunderbird 500X is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, EFI, 499cc engine which produces 27.2 BHP @ 5250 rpm and peak torque of 41.3 Nm torque @ 4000 rpm. The Thunderbird 350X, on the other hand, is powered by a single-cylinder, air-cooled, twin-spark, 346cc engine which produces a 19.8 BHP @ 5250 rpm and maximum torque of 28 Nm @ 4000 rpm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

As said before, the 350X looks similar to the 500X and also shares same ergonomics. Both get the blacked out theme and get an all-new single-piece seat for rider and pillion and a new handlebar. Both the bikes feature 9-spoke black alloys with tubeless tyres (first production Royal Enfields’ to get tubeless tyres). Disc brakes are standard at the front and rear and both of them still do not get ABS. The digital-analogue, twin-pod, instrument cluster also gets the blacked-out theme with a  chrome garnish around them. The exhaust and suspensions are finished in matte-black.

The headlight with LED DRLs and the LED taillights remain to be the same as that of the standard models. These new motorcycles are expensive than the standard models and along with these new X models, the standard Thunderbird model shall also be retailed.
