Mahindra has launched the facelifted Scorpio for this year in India at Rs. 9.69 lakhs (ex-showroom, Pune). It gets refreshed interiors and exteriors and also gets a more powerful engine than before.
The car is available in 7, 8 and 9-seater configuration and is also available in S3, S5, S7 and S11 trims. But the higher trims, S7 and S11 only get the new powerful 2.2L mHawk diesel engine which now produces 140 BHP @ 3750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque @ 1500-2800 rpm. The power has gone up by 20 BHP and torque by 40 Nm. This engine is mated to a new 6-speed manual transmission and 4WD is also available as an option.
Coming to the other trims, the base S3 variant is powered with an m2DICR, 2.5L diesel engine that develops 75 BHP @ 3200 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @1400-2200 rpm, while the other trims S5 and S7, get a mHawk, 2.2L engine that makes 120 BHP @ 4000 rpm and 280 Nm of torque @ 1800-2800 rpm. The 2.5L and 2.2L engines are mated to a 5-speed transmission.
In terms of styling, it gets a refreshed front chrome grille, new projector headlights and new fog lamps with chrome bezels, re-designed bumpers, new ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, new 17″ alloy wheels, new red lens LED taillights and a new tailgate. Interiors get the premium faux leather seat treatment, faux leather-wrapped steering wheel, and gear lever, new roof mounted holder and more storage spaces. It also gets a 6″ touchscreen infotainment screen with GPS and reverse camera with dynamic assist, new 1-touch lane change indicator and new auto window roll-up feature.
On the safety front, it gets dual airbags, speed alert, auto door lock, engine immobilizer, panic brake indicator and new generation braking system with 9.1 Bosch ABS.
