Jeep Wrangler Unlimited & Grand Cherokee Launched In India At Rs. 71.59 Lakhs & Rs. 93.64 Lakhs Respectively (Ex-Showroom, Delhi)

The 75 year old American off-Road brand, Jeep, has finally entered India. The company has launched two vehicles as its initial launch, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and the Jeep Grand Cherokee at Rs. 71.59 lakhs & Rs. 93.64 lakhs respectively (Ex-Showroom, Delhi).

The Jeep Wrangler is launched in its long wheelbase variant known as the Wrangler Unlimited. The Grand Cherokee is launched in three variants – Limited, Summit and SRT.

Their prices are as Follows: (All prices, ex-showroom, Delhi)
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited:  71.59 lakhs
Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited: 93.64 lakhs
Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit: 1.03 crores
Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT:  1.12 crores

These prices are on the higher side as these Jeeps’ are brought in India via the CBU route from the Jeep’s plant in North America. The company has started its operations through a Jeep dealership in Ahmedabad and will come up with another 9 outlets by the end of this year.

The Jeep Wrangler is launched only in its long-wheelbase trim, the Wrangler Unlimited 4×4. It is powered by a 2.8L EcoDiesel, inline 4-cylinder engine and it develops max power of 200 PS @ 3600 rpm and max torque of 460 Nm @ 1600 – 2600 rpm. The mill is meshed to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and it returns an ARAI certified mileage of 12.1 km/l.  It gets heavy duty solid axles, 17-inch Goodyear tyres and 18 bolt main case joint clamping. The ground clearance of the Wrangler Unlimited is of 238.2 mm.

This Jeep comes with removable doors, removable hard top and its interiors can also be washed out as there are drain plugs and its centre console can be locked. Another feature that is on offer is a 6.5-inch Uconnect touch-screen audio system with navigation, voice commands and 40 GB hard drive. It also gets 9-speaker Alpine system.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and Summit variants are powered by a 3.0L, V6 diesel motor paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts. It produces max power of 243 PS @ 3600 rpm and max torque of 570 Nm @ 2000 rpm. This mill delivers 12.8 km/l.

The high-performance, Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT  gets 6.4L, Hemi V8 petrol motor which also comes paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts and it produces a max power of 475 PS @ 6250 rpm and a max torque of 624 Nm @ 4100 rpm. The SRT is additionally equipped with high-performance Brembo brakes and active damping suspension.

All three variants come equipped with a Quadratrack-2 4WD system. All the models are offered with an extended warranty and a comprehensive roadside assistance program.

The petrol derivatives of Grand Cherokee and Wrangler will be launched by the month of November this year.

The Jeep will also launch and produce a model locally at its plant near to in the next year and will price it between 13-20 lakhs.
