Mercedes-Benz has launched its ‘World Performance Car of the Year’ – the 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S in India at Rs. 2.40 Crores (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). This AMG GT is offered in two variants worldwide, while it’s only fully customized model, GT S has been launched in India. The car was launched by racing icon – Bernd Schneider.
This car is the replacement model for the Mercedes SLS SMG. This sportscar gets a handcrafted AMG 4L V8 engine which produces 510 BHP and 650 Nm of torque. This engine weighs only 209 kgs and is front-mid mounted behind the front axles while its gearbox is placed at the rear for better weight distribution and performance.
This AMG GT S gets the lightest chassis in its segment which weighs only 231 kgs. AMG GT S features AMG Performance Steering Wheel, Electronic AMG rear axle differential lock, AMG ride control sport suspension, AMG Performance seats and AMG speed sensitive hydraulic steering.
With the ‘designo’ customization, 10,000+ unique configurations are possible with AMG GT S in India which include 7 exterior colour options, 6 upholstery options, 4 alloy wheel design options, 3 seat belt colour options, 4 trim options and 5 optional packages.
For better individualized driving performance the car comes with five different AMG Dynamic Select transmission modes: Comfort, Sport, Sport +, RACE and Individual.
It does 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds and it rivals against the likes of Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo S and Jaguar F-Type R Coupe.
