This festival season, the Volkswagen Virtus has emerged as the best-selling sedan in India, with the German automaker reporting a notable 2,351 units sold. The Virtus has not only outpaced its sibling, the Skoda Slavia, but it has also shown a strong month-on-month growth in sales.
Key to this surge has been Volkswagen’s introduction of two new trims—the Highline Plus and the GT—both available with multiple engine options. Additionally, Volkswagen has been offering significant discounts across the Virtus range, further boosting its appeal and driving sales momentum.
Following the Virtus in the sales rankings is the Honda City, with the Maruti Ciaz trailing behind. Despite its position at the back, the Ciaz—now the oldest model in this segment—has still recorded growth compared to both last year’s figures and the previous month’s performance.
Volkswagen’s recent success is bolstered by the Virtus surpassing the 50,000-unit milestone in India. Launched in June 2022 as the final model in the MQB A0-IN India 2.0 lineup, the Virtus has achieved this impressive figure in just over two years, marking a strong foothold for Volkswagen in the Indian sedan market.
