Tata Motors has been at the forefront of innovation in the Indian automotive industry, first with the introduction of twin CNG cylinders and later unveiling the country’s first CNG automatic cars, the Tiago and Tigor CNG. Now, Tata Motors is poised to make history once again with the launch of India’s first turbo-petrol CNG car, the Nexon CNG.
The upcoming Tata Nexon CNG will be available with two gearbox options: a five-speed manual and an AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox. This CNG-powered compact SUV will feature a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, delivering 118bhp and 170Nm of torque in its standard petrol mode. While the CNG version is expected to have slightly reduced power output, it will still offer a robust performance.
With the introduction of the Nexon CNG, Tata Motors will further diversify its Nexon lineup, which already includes petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric powertrain options. The company’s current CNG offerings comprise the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, and Punch models, and the Nexon CNG will be a significant addition to this range.
Upon its launch, the Tata Nexon CNG is expected to carry a premium of up to Rs. 80,000 over its standard counterparts. In the competitive compact SUV segment, it will go head-to-head with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, offering consumers a new choice in the growing market for eco-friendly vehicles.
