Maruti Swift Now Available for Booking The highly anticipated new Maruti Swift is now open for bookings, requiring a nominal amount of Rs 11,000. Scheduled for launch on May 9th, this marks the introduction of the fourth generation of this beloved hatchback, featuring options for both petrol and CNG powertrains.
Design Updates and Key Features Introduced in Japan last year, the latest Swift showcases an evolved design, featuring new LED headlamps, wheels, LED tail lamps, and relocated door handles, now positioned on the doors instead of the C-pillar. Inside, familiar Maruti elements are enhanced with a new floating display for the infotainment system, an expanded full-color MID, and a redesigned climate control interface. Notably, it inherits several features from the Fronx, including rear AC vents, USB-C charging ports, and an Arkamys sound system.
Variant Options and Powertrain Maruti is expected to maintain its familiar variant lineup, including LXi, VXi, and Zxi, across both petrol and CNG offerings. Each variant is likely to offer a Plus option with additional features. While global markets receive a new three-cylinder 1.2-liter petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, the Indian market is anticipated to continue with the K12C 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine delivers 88bhp/113Nm in standard form and can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed AMT. The CNG variant produces 78bhp/98Nm and is exclusively available with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Pricing and Competition Expectations for the new Swift’s pricing range from Rs. 6.5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh. Positioned to compete with models like the Renault Triber, Maruti Wagon R, Maruti Celerio, Tata Punch, and Hyundai Exter, its primary contender remains the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, a long-standing rival over the past 17 years across multiple generations.
