Ather Energy has introduced the Rizta electric scooter at the Ather Community Day, marking their debut in the family-oriented electric scooter segment. As the demand for electric scooters continues to rise for daily commutes and urban travel, Ather identified the need to offer a scooter tailored for family use. Here are the top five highlights of the newly launched electric scooter:
1. Design: Unlike Ather’s futuristic-looking models like the 450S and 450X, the Rizta features a more conservative design. Its body panels, subtle colors, and minimal creases cater to family-oriented scooter buyers who prefer understated designs. Despite its conservative approach, the Rizta boasts unique design elements such as the LED headlight bar, layered effect on the handlebar cowl, and neatly executed tail section.
2. Features: Ather has equipped the Rizta with a range of modern features. The base variant, Rizta S, features the Ather ‘Deepview’ LCD display with Bluetooth connectivity, music controls, and navigation. It offers two ride modes – Smart Eco and Zip, along with safety features like traction control. Additional features include underseat mobile charging, backrest, auto hold, and reverse mode. The top-spec variant, Rizta Z, offers advanced features such as a seven-inch color TFT display, inbuilt Google Maps navigation, live traffic data, and Magic Twist regenerative braking.
3. Motor and Battery: Built on the 450-series platform, the Rizta shares the same PMSM electric motor and battery as the 450-series electric scooters. It delivers 22Nm of peak torque and is available with either a 2.9kWh or 3.7kWh battery pack. The 2.9kWh variant offers an IDC range of 123km, while the 3.7kWh variant provides a range of 160km. Charging times range from 6 hours and 10 minutes to 8 hours and 30 minutes, depending on the battery size.
4. Hardware: The Rizta utilizes the same main frame as the 450-series platform but features a new, larger subframe to accommodate its 900mm long seat. It employs telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, coupled with 12-inch wheels fitted with MRF rubber. Braking duties are handled by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.
5. Price and Competition: The introductory prices for the Ather Rizta start at Rs 1.10 lakh for the Rizta S, Rs 1.25 lakh for the Rizta Z with the 2.9kWh battery pack, and Rs 1.45 lakh for the Rizta Z with the 3.7kWh battery pack. The Rizta competes against the TVS iQube, priced between Rs 1.46 lakh to Rs 1.56 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
