Mercedes-Benz India launched the 2020 GLE LWB SUV in India in January in two variants – GLE 300d and GLE 400d Hip Hop Edition. The company has now introduced two more variants to the GLE LWB line-up, a petrol GLE 450 for Rs. 88.80 lakhs and a GLE 400d variant for Rs. 89.90 lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom, India).
These two new variants sit between the base GLE 300d and the top-spec GLE 400d Hip-Hop Edition. Both of these two new additions are CKD models and a petrol variant has been introduced for the first time.
Some of the important features of these SUVs include – multibeam LED headlights with intelligent headlight control, wireless charging, auto park assist with 360° camera, panoramic sunroof, 4-zone climate control, Airmatic suspensions, etc.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 4MATIC LWB’s motor is a 3L, in-line 6-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that produces 367 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. An additional 22 BHP and 250 Nm of torque are available via EQ Boost (a 48V mild-hybrid system). 0-100 km/h comes up in 5.7 seconds. It has a top speed is of 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400d 4MATIC LWB is powered by a 3L, in-line 6-cylinder, diesel engine. It produces 330 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. Like the petrol variant, it goes from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and achieves a top speed of 245 km/h.
Both these engines are BS6 compliant and are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission (9G-TRONIC).
These two new models are included in the brand’s STAR EASE service package too. The GLE 450 is offered at Rs. 77,600/- for 2 years/unlimited kms and the GLE 400d is offered at Rs. 89,100/- for 2 years/unlimited kms.
