In early 2024, Renault India refreshed its entire lineup, including the budget-friendly seven-seater MPV, the Renault Triber. This update introduced new features and subtle exterior changes. Here’s our analysis of the AMT version of this three-row MPV, highlighting five pros and two cons.

The 2024 Renault Triber is available in four variants: RXE, RXL, RXT, and RXZ, with prices ranging from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 8.97 lakh (ex-showroom). The update added several features, such as a seven-inch digital instrument panel, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), powered ORVMs, wireless charger, driver armrest, cooled centre console storage, and seatbelt reminders.

While a new Stealth Black color option is now available, other elements like the grille, bumpers, and wheels remain unchanged.

Renault Triber AMT Pros:

  1. Space Management Renault excels in space utilization with the Triber. Despite being a sub-four metre MPV, it feels spacious inside. The front and second rows offer ample space and practical storage options. The third row, while best for children, is still usable given the vehicle’s dimensions.
  2. Seating Layout and Flexibility The Triber can accommodate seven passengers. Additionally, the third row can be completely removed to expand boot space to 625 litres.
  3. Visibility and Light Controls The Triber’s light steering and absence of a clutch pedal in the AMT version make it easy to drive. It also boasts a large glass area and thin pillars, ensuring excellent visibility.
  4. Safety The Renault Triber has a four-star GNCAP safety rating, performing well in crash tests for both child and adult occupants. It comes equipped with four airbags, ABS with EBD, seat-belt reminder, TPMS, traction control, hill start assist, and a reverse parking camera with sensors.
  5. Ride Quality The Triber offers a comfortable ride for most users. The ride quality is generally good, though it can become slightly bouncy when fully loaded. Overall, it delivers a comfortable experience for its segment.

Renault Triber AMT Cons:

  1. Driveability The Triber’s AMT is not as refined as those from Hyundai and Maruti. It is noticeably slow and can be frustrating, making it the weakest aspect of the Triber automatic.
  2. Interior Quality While the Triber’s cabin is feature-rich for its price, the material quality and overall interior feel lack a premium touch. The interior aesthetics do not quite match up to expectations.

With its recent updates, the Renault Triber continues to be a practical and budget-friendly MPV, though it has room for improvement, particularly in its AMT performance and interior quality.
