The Kia SP2i concept gathered a lot of attention at the 2018 Auto Expo in India, and now Kia, the world’s 8th largest automaker has finally revealed its production version – the Kia Seltos at its world premiere event in New Delhi. The Seltos will be the company’s first offering for the Indian market.
In terms of design, the Seltos is a handsome-looking SUV, it gets Kia signature Tiger Nose Grille, crown jewel LED headlights, Kia signature Heartbeat shape LED DRL and taillights. The car will be offered in 8 color options along with 5 dual-tone color options.
On the inside, the Seltos gets 8-speaker Bose sound system, 10.25-inch touchscreen, 8-inch HUD, leather seats, ventilated front seats, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, sunroof, and a good amount of space.
Kia Seltos is BS-VI ready and will be offered with three engine options from its launch. The three engines are – 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L T-GDI turbo-petrol engines, The 1.5L engines are branded as Smartstream whereas the turbo-petrol will be the part of GT Line. These engines will be offered in three automatic transmissions and one manual transmission – CVT (petrol), 6-speed torque converter (diesel), a 7-speed DCT (1.4L turbo-petrol) and a 6-speed manual that will be standard for all engines. The car also gets three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sport along with three terrain modes – Wet, Mud and Sand.
Safety features include – 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, brake-assist system, vehicle stability management, front and rear parking sensors and a blind spot view monitor.
The Seltos also comes equipped with UVO connect system which offers a lot of convenience and safety features. It features 37 smart features under five different categories – navigation, safety and security, vehicle management, remote control and convenience. Few of them are – AI Voice Command, Auto Collision Notification, SOS emergency assistance, Stolen vehicle notification, tracking and immobilization, Remote engine start & stop, Remotely operated Air Purifier and In Car Air Quality Monitor. This UVO facility will be free for first three years for its users.
The Kia Seltos is expected to be priced between Rs. 11-16 lakhs (ex-showroom) and will be launched later this year. It will be sold through its 265 touch-points across 160 cities of India. The company looks forward to open 300 touch-points by 2020 and 350 touch-points by 2021.
